If you stay in Da Nang, you should focus on the beachfront of Da Nang. The beaches are pretty beautiful, better than Hue. The hotels are more expansive than Hue, but life at the beachfront also has an ocean-drive vibe with many restaurants and bars for day and night drinking.

Due to being close to the ocean, the city is entirely of seafood restaurants. You can choose which fish you want for dinner out of the aquariums. Most of the fish I have never seen before 🙂

One attraction that was highly recommended but not worth it in the end is the fire-spitting dragon bridge. The middle of the bridge is designed like a dragon. Twice a week, on Saturday and Sunday, the bridge gets closed for 5 minutes, and the dragon spits fire. The show was boring; maybe it’s because they have to save money. Therefore, the fire is a little small and unfunny. Dear Da Nang, do it twice a month and go all-in on these two days! It would make the event better!

The little town of Hoi An is 30 minutes away by cab (8 USD). If you don’t need the beaches of Da Nang, you could also stay in Hoi An. But if not, take some hours for a day visit there. It has a charming little inner city on a river, many tourist shops, and good coffee and restaurants. If you have time, at 6 pm, the famous night market of Hoi An gets busy.

On my last day in Da Nang, I took a cab to the airport to fly to Ho Chi Minh (aka Saigon). You might wonder why I don’t have an article on Ho Chi Minh and why I stop my Vietnamese story here: Ho Chi Minh (the city) is dull… So I spent some time in the pool, eating and drinking coffee, and that was it… Not worth an extra article. So, I am leaving Vietnam for Laos. The next adventure is starting…
