It is almost four weeks since I landed back in Frankfurt, sucked into real life again. And it was weird! I started working back in my old job immediately the day after arriving; I stood up as always around 6 am, made a coffee, and at the latest at 7 am, I was sitting at my desk working on the mails I got… It felt like I was never away…
But I felt the difference during the day: My brain could not concentrate for a more extended period… No surprise: my brain was in sleep mode for half a year 🙂
After four weeks, everything is back to normal so that I can recap my world trip.
Some facts:
- I traveled 13 countries
- I had 35 flights with 53211 Miles and 128 1/2 flight hours (WOW)
- I took 6 ferries for 15 1/2 hours
- I took 22 coaches for almost 80 hours
- I took 6 trains for 10 1/2 hours
- I walked more than 2000km
- I had uncountable Uber/Grab trips
- I slept in more than 40 different hotels (and some buses, trains, tents)
What have been my favorite spots?
It’s a pretty hard question as I have seen so much, so I can not rank a top 10, but without any order, my most favorite spots/events/trips have been:
- Macchu Picchu
- Rapa Nui
- fishing Piranhas
- the elephants of Laos
- Karaoke in Toyko
- Argentinian empanadas
- Communa 13
- the historical sites of Kyoto
- the coffee of Vietnam
- Colonia de Sacramento
- the whales of Patagonia
- the Salar de Uyuni
- the beaches of Komodo
- the people of Peru
- Cartagena
- the food of Japan
Is my bucket list smaller? Sure, I have seen many countries and tick-marked many important things, but unfortunately, I got so many ideas while traveling about what should be followed. Mainly because I meet other travelers who tell me amazing stories; the bucket list is the same size as before.
Last, the most essential question: How much was it?
0 €! Because:
“Travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer!”
And for sure, I am already starting to plan and book my next trips 🙂
