Besides Gin, Coffee is my favorite drink; luckily, I drink more Coffee than Gin. I encountered famous coffee countries like Colombia and Bolivia during my world trip. But Vietnam smashed it; I learned so many new types of coffee, so many new tastes, and so many new ways to serve it.
Surprisingly, all coffees, like a cappuccino, can be ordered hot or cold, even those you won’t imagine drinking cold.

Here are some menu cards I made a photo of with things you might have never seen.

I will go into detail about two favorites.

Egg Coffee
Vietnamese egg coffee is a unique and decadent coffee beverage from Hanoi. This innovative drink, born out of necessity during a milk shortage, quickly became a classic.

The key to its extraordinary flavor lies in the fluffy, meringue-like topping. Egg yolks are whipped vigorously with sweetened condensed milk, creating a rich and creamy custard on top of strong Vietnamese coffee.

How does it taste? Imagine a coffee-flavored tiramisu in a cup! The sweetness of the custard balances the bitterness of the coffee, offering a velvety, smooth, and surprisingly light dessert-like experience.

Salted Coffee
Vietnamese salted coffee offers a surprisingly delicious and refreshing twist on coffee. Unlike egg coffee, it originated in the city of Hue. This unique beverage combines the bold flavor of Vietnamese coffee with a touch of saltiness and a creamy sweetness.

The salt helps cut through the coffee’s bitterness and enhances the sweetness, creating a surprisingly balanced and refreshing drink with hints of salted caramel.

Once in a café, I had to wait 15 minutes for my coffee, even though I was utterly alone in the café. After I saw the art, I knew why I had to wait…
