Welcome back to my story about living on Mauritius.

Before continuing my life in Grand Baie, here are more facts about my favorite topic: food. Very little gets produced on Mauritius, so everything must be shipped to the island. This makes it really expensive. A bottle of Belgian beer is around 7 Dollars, or a pack of 8 “kinder pingue” for 13 Dollars. Some products are only sometimes available, and if you need exceptional food (for example, protein-loaded food) it might be challenging to find it. If you go out for dinner for local food (incl. local beer Phoenix), you can get a first-class dinner for RS 1050 (around 23 Dollars). Local products that are cheap and good are all kinds of fruits and fish. For whatever reason, a 1/6 water Mellon was almost 4 dollars. Fruits, as always, if you buy them where they are produced, are excellent but different. For example, the pineapple has more the size of a grenade 🙂

By the way, the British influences on that island are visible with driving on the right side and the massive amount of cookies available in the store.

Port Louis
I had to go to Port Louis, Mauritius’s capital, but it was not worth it. The city is horrid, with a lot of traffic, and finding nice spots to take a photo takes a lot of work. If you are into stamps: the most famous one, the “Blue Mauritius”, is seen there. I heard its pretty nice to visit the famous horse races in Mauritius, but during my time, it was not the right time….

Crossfit
as I try to do sport everywhere, I signed a contract at Crossfit Baie. You should drop by if you are in that corner of the world!

A bicycle ride
As I had a bike in Grand Baie, I used the chance to have a longer ride on the weekend. My main target was to see the famous church: Notre Dame de l’Auxiliatrice (Cap Malheureux)—a small and lovely church on the ocean side.

A catamaran tour
Worth is also to make a day trip with a catamaran to one of the small islands; for me, it was the Flat Island and Gabriel Island. Unfortunately the water was rough, so I had to feed the fish 🙂
But swimming there was amazing as I saw the my first time a turtle in wildlife <3

Food
And for sure, again, some pictures of my servings 🙂
